Statistics also show that 55% of an impact made when meeting a new person is based on how they dress and how they act.  A great first impression is therefore crucial for landing a job, follow Money MindEd’s tips to ensure that you make an awesome first impression at your next interview.

Be On Time: Being on time for an interview is truly the first impression a boss or hiring manager has of you. Ideally you should arrive at least 10 minutes early, allowing you time to relax and collect your thoughts.

Dress For Success: When dressing for an interview it is important to determine an appropriate outfit based on the company and job type. Your outfit has a large impact on the impression you make, 65% of bosses indicated that when deciding between two similar interview candidates, clothes could be the deciding factor between the two. Be sure to avoid bright colors and appearing too fashionable or trendy.

Be Aware Of Nonverbal Cues: Even when you are not speaking you are making an impression. A boss or hiring manager will pick up on many small nonverbal actions that you may not think much about. It is important to maintain eye contact in order to show that you are listening and interested. A firm handshake is also a crucial nonverbal cue to prefect. Lastly be sure to avoid bad posture, using to many hand gestures, fidgeting, playing with your hair, touching your face, and crossing your arms over your chest.
